Bugaboo Stamps & Catch the Bug: 03/13/2010

Welcome to Saturday, 03/13/2010, and our very first Bugaboo Stamps sketch challenge at Catch the Bug! I L-O-V-E sketches because I find creating my own to the hardest part of making a card. Left to my own devices, every single one of my cards would look exactly the same. . .BOOOOORING!!! Some might call that "sameness" my signature style, but  I call it a rut. . .;)

You have until 03/20/2010 at 7:00 AM EST to make and post a card using the  sketch above at Bugaboo Stamps' challenge blog, Catch the Bug. You could win one of three prizes - seven, four, or two free digital images - just for posting your card to our blog via Mister Linky. How 'bout them apples?!?!? Did you get it? Apples? Like on my card? ;)

Note to Self: Wipe those smudges off your apples!!!

Bugaboo Stamps: Flower Blocks | Rose & My Little Monster | Temperamental

Come, come now. . .a little more from my "Red & Black Period" isn't going to kill you. . .;)

Naturally, this particular color combination makes me think of a romantic and bygone Spain. . .bullfights, flamenco, and of course the black lace and red rose of a matilla. Yes, I know it's all very stereotypical and smacks of Walt Disney's SpainWorld, but it's still my inspiration so you're going to have to indulge me a bit. . .;)

My husband Lance complimented me on my "goth" card. . . .I said I didn't make one. That's what inspired my second card. . .;)

Bugaboo Stamps: Copic Refill Tutorial & AKV 2 Wedding | Dance

As it turns out, necessity IS the mother of invention. And all this time I could have sworn that it was getting caught. . .;)

E00 Skin White was my first Copic marker. I purchased it from Hobby Lobby, and even with a 40%-off coupon, I STILL couldn't believe that I was paying that much for one marker! But, since neither Stampin' Up nor Prismacolor had a natural-looking skin tone - always too peach, too pink, too brown - I thought that I might as well give it a try.

Since then I've collected about 90% of all the colors that Copic has available at this time, BUT the one that I keep returning to is E00 Skin White. And while its juiciness seemed to last forever and a day, there finally came a time when I needed to refill it. Lucky for me. . .and you. . .this occurred just in time for Tutorial Wednesday at Bugaboo Stamps' challenge blog, Catch the Bug. :D

***Before I get started, let me just say that the following tutorial is for refilling a Copic Sketch marker only. Do NOT use it to refill a Copic Original marker, a Copic Ciao marker, or a Copic Wide marker.***

Step 1. Supplies: Copic Various Ink Refill bottle, Copic Sketch marker, Copic Booster, Copic Optional Nib Tweezer (not pictured).

Step 2. Unscrew the cap off of the Copic Varios Ink Refill bottle, and screw on a Copic Booster.

Step 3. Use the Copic Optional Nib Tweezer to gently pull te Medium Broad nib out of the Copic Sketch marker barrel.

Step 4. Remove the cap from the Copic Booster, insert the needle into the barrel of the Copic Sketch marker, and gently squeeze until you've delivered approximately 3 ccs of ink. (Use the cc measurements on the side of the Copic Various Ink Refill bottle to monitor your usage.).

  • Note 1: LESS IS MORE!!! If you refill your Copic Sketch marker wtih more than 3 ccs of ink, you'll be wasting it. When you turn it over and replace the nib, the excess ink will simply drip (even pour!) out and ruin whatever project that you're working on.
  • Note 2: One bottle of Copic Various Ink Refill *should* refill a Copic Sketch marker 8-10 times per iCopic.

Step 5. Use the Copic Optional Nib Tweezer to gently push the Medium Broad nib back into the barrel of the Copic Sketch marker.

Step 6. Replace the cap of the Copic Booster and unscrew it from the Copic Various Ink Refill bottle. Screw the cap back on the Copic Various Ink Refill bottle.

  • Note: Using the steps above, rinse the Copic Booster that you just used with 0 Coloress Blender to clean it for re-use.

Step 7. It works!!! :D

PS. Much love and many kisses to my husband Lance for actually doing the work while I took the pictures.

PSS. Yes, I'm still in my "Red & Black Period."

Bugaboo Stamps: Penny Doll | Thinking of You & Kidlets | Vet & Just a Note | Note 7

If Pablo Picasso could have a "Blue Period," then I can certainly have a "Red & Black Period."  I mean, we're both Spanish, brilliant, and temperamental, right???

OK, so maybe not. . .;)

It's New Release Tuesday at Bugaboo Stamps and our challenge blog, Catch the Bug. In addition to the new lines that are showcased below, Jodie has also released new images to the Bugaboo Brats and Stella Tidbits lines.

Bugaboo Stamps: Bonus

One of the many things that's uber-cool about Bugaboo Stamps is that Jodie's been so incredibly generous. Not only does she post free images for download every Friday at her store, but she also posts free images for every milestone reached on her personal blog, at our challenge blog Catch the Bug, and on our groups at Paper Craft Planet and SNR: The Card Universe.

I've used some of the free images that she's posted before: herehere, and there. But, I really wanted to make a point of using ALL of them as a way of saying, "Jodie, you party like a rock star! Thanks so much!"

Oh, and before I forget. . .Today's ABaC Monday on our challenge blog, Catch the Bug. This week it's Audrey's turn to rock your socks off with her altered coffee mug! I'm kinda' hoping that she's thinking of this as an early birthday present for me. . .;)
